When one local business closes in Asheville, another opens, making it hard to keep tabs on all the newest places to visit. To simplify things, we’ve rounded up some of the newest Asheville restaurants, bars, breweries, and other businesses to frequent on your next trip to our mountain town.
Check out what’s new this month below.
Bee Thai Kitchen | At the end of February, we sadly said goodbye to an Asheville staple—Little Bee Thai. They had served our community first in the Sweeten Creek Gas Station to a food truck to their restaurant for the last 15 years. Fortunately, new owners opened a Thai food restaurant in the same spot! Bee Thai Kitchen, which pays homage to its predecessor, blends authentic, new Thai, and American-Thai fusion dishes for the neighborhood to sample and taste. Order a traditional plate of Pad Thai or Drunken Noodle, or experiment with new flavors with a bowl of curry or spicy eggplant.
TRVE Brewing | Asheville’s beer scene just got a bit edgier with the introduction of TRVE Brewing, now open in the South Slope Brewing District. Originating in Denver, Colorado, TRVE (pronounced “true”) is bringing its innovative brews, which strive to push the boundaries of craft beer, to Asheville. This new spot calls itself a “metal” brewery, which is apparent in the music you hear inside, the black interior, and the names of the beers on tap. According to the owners, the metal focus is primarily intended to signal inclusivity, and the brewery is happy to offer a safe space to the community.
Pedal Cab Co. | If you’ve ever wanted a new way to travel around town, Pedal Cab Co. is here to invite you on a new journey! Pedal Cab Co. is just what it sounds like—a unique and eco-friendly way to explore the city’s charm on pedal-powered cabs. With knowledgeable and friendly drivers peddling you around town, they personalize each ride to ensure you maximize your time in Asheville. Whether you’re hopping between breweries or exploring historic neighborhoods, PedalCab Co. ensures a memorable ride every time. Ditch the traditional modes of transportation and opt for a greener, more exciting way to get around.
Recess Coffee | There’s a new place to get your caffeine fix in Black Mountain, NC, just a short drive from the Asheville city limits. Recess Coffee focuses on intentionally made baked goods and specialty coffee. According to the owners, every croissant, sourdough loaf, and pour-over coffee strives to spark curiosity and play. They hope to bridge the gap between generations by cultivating a space that reminds kids, adults, and grandparents how to play. They’ve also curated each piece of furniture and decor inside the coffee shop, so it feels like you’re stepping into a nostalgic schoolhouse. Step back in time and grab a pick-me-up at Recess Coffee!
