Asheville is a city of constant change, with new businesses popping up as others close. It can be challenging to keep up with all the latest places to explore. To simplify things, we’ve compiled a diverse list of the newest Asheville restaurants, bars, breweries, and other businesses. Whether you’re a foodie, a beer enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique experience, there’s something for everyone in our mountain town.
Check out what’s new this month below.
Haywood Famous | What started as a phrase between friends to identify the who’s-who in Asheville youth culture has quickly become the heart of a new kind of space for sober community and nightlife. Haywood Famous is now open in West Asheville, and it celebrates the “come as you are” attitude many people associate with the city of Asheville. The space serves Cuban coffee, traditional Cuban pastries, and rotating offerings from local bakers in a quiet, creative atmosphere unlike any other place you can visit in the area. With an emphasis on sober nightlife, Haywood Famous will be open from 5-10:30 p.m. to give neurodivergent, queer, sober, and all people a place to find community after hours.
Asheville Sandwich Company (Arden Location) | Treat yourself to your favorite sandwiches and ice cream at the new Asheville Sandwich Company location at 330 Rockwood Road in Arden, NC. This locally owned and beloved sandwich shop had a location in West Asheville from 2014 until February of this year, when the owners were forced to close after their lease wasn’t renewed. But now, they’re back and better than ever! Their new menu brings back crowd favorites like the Cuban, Firestarter Cajun, Shrimp Po’Boy, Vegan Philly, and several salads. Plus, they’re introducing their new Onion Smashburger, which is already a favorite from their soft openings. Stop by or order directly from their website and support local!
Bonito at The Hound | Christopher “Cookie” Hadley, the previous executive chef at the Hawaiian-inspired RosaBees in the River Arts District, has begun a new venture at The Hound, a bar and lounge in East Asheville. His new restaurant, Bonito, features delicious snacks, tacos, sandwiches, and poke for patrons to try. The menu at the globally-inspired kitchen is incredibly innovative, with some standout dishes like the Hurricane Popcorn, made with butter, Furikake, and Kakimochi, and the Bahn Mi, made with pork shoulder, spam pâté, Namasu, and more. Grab a drink and an eclectic bite the next time you’re in the area!
DayTrip and Boy Howdy | DayTrip, a 70s-themed disco dive bar, coffee shop, and bodega, and Boy Howdy, a burger joint, jointly opened this month in West Asheville near the French Broad River and Carrier Park stretch of the greenway. The two hip spots are connected, allowing patrons to experience everyone in one visit. DayTrip offers a daytime coffee program in partnership with Penny Cup Coffee, signature cocktails and mocktails at night, and grab-and-go snacks and cases of beer to essential supplies, like sunscreen, for those heading to the greenway and river. Boy Howdy, which used to be a popular pop-up in the area, focuses solely on counter-service smash burgers (including a vegan burger!) served with chips and Sour Patch Kids.
Little Amsterdam | A new Amsterdam-style dispensary and lounge is now open in downtown Asheville. Little Amsterdam cares about cannabis, coffee, and community and offers coffee, non-alcoholic drinks, and delicious pastries alongside their wide menu of legal cannabis products. Styled after a Dutch “coffeeshop,” this spot provides a unique old-world cannabis experience to those who partake. From flower and concentrates to infused seltzers and infused cold brews, there’s a whole world of incredible products to try. Relax, have fun, and enjoy a safe space in the heart of Asheville at Little Amsterdam.
