Asheville is a city of constant change, with new businesses popping up as others close. It can be challenging to keep up with all the latest places to explore. To simplify things, we’ve compiled a diverse list of the newest Asheville restaurants, bars, breweries, and other businesses. Whether you’re a foodie, a beer enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique experience, there’s something for everyone in our mountain town.
Check out what’s new this month below.
The Whale South Slope | Popular craft beer collective The Whale has expanded into the South Slope Brewing District with a new location! The Whale South Slope offers the same expansive and evolving beer, cider, seltzers, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages list that patrons know and love in a relaxed and inviting environment. At this location, visitors can order food from nearby Green Man Eats—the ghost kitchen from the neighboring Green Man Brewery. The Whale remains one of the only bars in Asheville where you can sample flavors from all over the country, and now you have two locations in Asheville to do just that!
Big Tikka | A new Indian restaurant has entered the Asheville culinary scene, and they’ve got some big flavors they can’t wait for you to try. Big Tikka recently opened in downtown Asheville, serving reinterpreted nostalgic Indian dishes with a big heart and an open mind toward global techniques and influences. They’ve got something for everyone on their menu, from their Tandoor oven-roasted chicken kababs to their inventive Kundan Lal Makhani butter chicken entree inspired by their chef. Experience a menu as diverse and colorful as the staff at this little slice of Indian paradise!
Flour | New bakery Flour is now open daily at 7 AM in the S&W Market in downtown Asheville. This local spot offers made-from-scratch breakfast biscuits, homemade focaccia sandwiches, fresh daily pastries, and a full coffee program. The day starts with breakfast from 7 to 11:15 a.m. and then transitions seamlessly into lunch from 11:30 a.m. to close. Their baked goods bring so much happiness to those who visit, especially their Broccolini Cheddar Biscuit and a rotating selection of Focaccia Pizza. The early bird gets the worm (and the biscuit!) at Flour.
VOWL | From the team at DSSOLVR, an inventive brewery in downtown Asheville, comes VOWL, a new bar and event venue concept. Now open next door to DSSOLVR, this bohemian glam-rock spot showcases DSSOLVR’s natural wine and cider selections and an epic new cocktail program. Besides the drinks, VOWL also plans to host private parties and special events in the space and their own special events on occasion. VOWL focuses on accommodating the industry as much as the adventurous imbibers.
South Paw | Now occupying the former site of Margarita’s Grill in South Asheville, South Paw offers patrons an eclectic menu of New American cuisine. With some incredible five-star reviews out the gate, this restaurant is undoubtedly bringing something new to the culinary landscape in Asheville. From smash burgers and flavorful salads to shrimp and grits and grilled ribeyes, you’ll experience an upscale menu with some of your favorites. Even better—South Paw is open late, until midnight, giving you a great option when everywhere else closes their doors for the night.
Bridge & Tunnel Coffee Co. | You know the yellow coffee truck when you see it, but now, the team at Bridge & Tunnel Coffee Co. has expanded into a brick-and-mortar cafe in the Coman building on the campus of A-B Tech. The new cafe features a full espresso, nitro, and smoothie bar, plus a healthy, plant-centric breakfast and lunch menu, including scratch-made treats. Even though it’s located on the A-B Tech campus, the cafe is still open to the public and has plenty of free parking to make the trip easy.
