A Look At
A Look at Asheville was founded by Fred L. Mullins and Lynn True-Mullins in 2003. As owners of A Look at Lexington, they saw how Western North Carolina’s vibrant setting of restaurants, hotels, shops, and adventures deserved its own publication with gorgeous photography contained in a beautifully-bound book.
We attribute the early success of our publication to Stephanie Smith, former owner of The Brite Agency and co-publisher of A Look at Asheville. Stephanie was a local Ashevillian, a rare breed, who partnered with the Mullins to bring A Look at Asheville to life. As a local, Stephanie knew our region in and out, but more importantly, built lifelong relationships in her community. Her hard work and dedication attracted the attention of locals, tourists, and businesses throughout WNC. Stephanie set the tone for A Look at Asheville and continues after her passing in 2017.
Today, A Look at Asheville is owned and operated by Kendra Payne and Denise Szakaly. As former employees of The Brite Agency, they reflect Stephanie’s love of Asheville and her determination to create beautiful, lasting books. Kendra and Denise also believe that giving back is the only way to move forward. A percentage of each printed copy sold of A Look at Asheville is donated to The V Foundation.
